Macmillan Jersey have had several problems in the past with inaccuracies, errors, blank data, and duplicates. This made more difficult to present information to their board of directors in order for them to make informed decisions about the charity.

Their annual report was also affected by the inaccuracies and consequently their transparency and credibility. A clear example was the difficulty to report on the total number of people using their services, or the amount of new people that access their service, questions they found always come up when facing media interviews.

Continuum  have had four members of staff dedicating their time (and brains) to helping us. Firstly, they put their efforts into understanding the ethos of Macmillan Jersey and the reasons behind collecting data and reporting it. Jorge Cabrejas, Service Manager

On an initial stage, a new online form was created so all the data is now recorded online by staff and volunteers, and can be pulled out at any time. This is the core data that feeds Alteryx.

The second stage involved accessing information and correlations they did not have before, such as ‘how many new prostate cancer service users are referred by the oncology team’.

These workflows were developed by Ben and Martin, and I am personally very thankful to them. Jorge Cabrejas, Service Manager

This second stage is currently ongoing as Macmillan encountered an issue with their version of excel, and an error when inputting dates. Jacqui is currently looking into this for them, Jorge has faith this will be solved promptly, as do we!

Watch this space for an update on the project.
